Mr Arnold discusses why his family moved to Stevenage after the war

Mr Arnold talks about having to move after the war and how he ended up working and living in Stevenage.

Mr Arnold: They [previous landlords] came back, and they more or less made it awkward for us. They wanted us out see after the war. Of course there was nothing going at all round about as regards housing. So of course I happened to see this advert Stevenage New Town being built. So I applied and

Interviewer: Here you are

Mr Arnold: That’s how it started and, I had to travel from Wood Green station to Stevenage station for round about six months. And then I more or less qualified sort of business you know. When a house was available see and they was gradually getting finished off. And we went to 32 Ramsdell. That was a four bedroom house because we needed it with the three children.
