Coming to Hemel Hempstead, 29th April 1954. I was living with my in-laws for three years and my husband got work here so that like all of the other Londoners, they got a house. He worked at Addressograph-Multigraph, down at town, near the factory estate. He was an engineer, capstans and lathes, that sort of thing. We didn’t care what house it was as long as we got a house, because I never heard of Hemel Hempstead at all. I used to wonder where I was going sort of thing.
