Mrs Anne Cotter talks about her experience of moving into her first home in Stevenage
“and there was one big hooray went up as we come round when they see there was someone else moving in, you know, ‘cause the all knew he was moving in that day, and it was great fun.”

The day we moved in I was very worried because I couldn’t see myself walking all the way from Stevenage Station to Rockingham Way, which is an awful long walk. So I said to the removal van man would he take us down on the van. So he said yes, so we all come down, me and the three kids come down on the tailgate of the removal can we all had chairs to sit in and I packed the kids packed lunch and a flask of cocoa, course they though it was great coming in like that and we come in the water pollution end about 12 o’clock just as the men were getting on the coaches to go home. And they all get off the coaches and there was one big hooray went up as we come round when they see there was someone else moving in, you know, ‘cause the all knew he was moving in that day, and it was great fun.
