Watching the New Town being built

Una Taber recalls how she watched parts of the New Town being built around her

They were still building Broadfield Road and there was no school, it was just a field. Any time we always had to walk down town, we didn’t have any shops here. Queens Square wasn’t built, then they built the church and I remember the Adeyfield Hall being built. Where the field is, nearer to Adeyfield School there was a hut there and we used to have any meetings in there because I, there was a Co-Op Guild formed here and that’s where we used to meet, I belonged to that. Then of course, Adeyfield School was built, watched that being built.
