“'here Phyll' he said “there’s a house near me empty why don’t you get your husband to go and apply for it and that’s what we did didn’t we. We went down and got this one, which I like very much.”
Mr Arnold: We applied for a smaller house and well we had a friend didn’t we, he’s passed on now. George Rouse round the corner number 7 Rydall and he, he used to keep in touch with him didn’t we love?
Mrs Arnold: I worked in, Sanders, electric people in Stevenage and he was a security man. He heard me talking one day about I’ve got a big house and I’ve got to find another house because they want me to move because they need the four bedroom. So anyway he come into me one day and he said “here Phyll” he said “there’s a house near me empty why don’t you get your husband to go and apply for it and that’s what we did didn’t we. We went down and got this one, which I like very much. I wouldn’t like to move out of it
Mr Arnold: That was in 1970 so really; we had the choice of two houses actually didn’t we? Yeah. Of course it was that much easier then of course a lot harder today.
