Mrs Nunn remembers visiting Stevenage for the first time to see potential homes, while the town was being built.

“There weren’t any shops really to speak of and my father did get this house in Marymead Drive. It was really nice and we lived on the end of a row on the corner, so we had quite a nice garden.”

We came with his firm and a coach brought us down to have a look and see what the new town was like and these days there was only a few roads as I say no buildings as yet. The twin foxes area was built first I believe in the town and we were taken there round that area first to look at the houses then onto Bedwell Crescent that also was built, Bedwell Crescent, but as I said there was, there weren’t any shops really to speak of and my father did get this house in Marymead Drive. It was really nice and we lived on the end of a row on the corner, so we had quite a nice garden.
