Roses were a very big thing.  What people used to do was, in the summer when they were in bloom, they’d all be in rows, with their varieties and everything. People would walk round and order what they wanted and then in the autumn they’d be dug up and we’d carry out these orders and my uncle, my Dad’s twin brother was the main man who delivered everything and he would deliver the orders to the houses.
