'The offices of the Borough, the Development Corporation used to be Aston House out in Aston...'

Stevenage Museum

The offices of the Borough, the Development Corporation used to be Aston House out in Aston and I have gone out there with a baby, with a bottle of milk and fed the baby, stayed there all day going from room to room to have discussions. There was also very exciting things, I started the Citizens Advice Bureau in Stevenage. I trained the first staff, and when the Queen came to open the Town Centre I was presented to her as somebody who, um worked hard for the town and started the CAB. We started it in the Sish Lane Hostel, which was a hostel where workmen had their meals and we used to meet there and then gradually it was transferred to the family centre and now of course it is in front of the library.
