Transcript:

We were notified that we could come but my husband would have to work at Dickinson’s, John Dickinson’s and so he did but he had to travel up from Edgeware for about 6 months before we got the house. There was another family who the husband was working with my husband and he they got a bit fed up waiting so they went and saw Mrs Penning and she said that there was two houses in Newfield Lane she said who likes gardening so the other man said “Oh we do” so they got a house on the other side of the road cause they got long gardens and we got this house and we moved in on July 21st 1951 and of course I was then 6 weeks from having my daughter which you know was a bit awkward but anyway we managed alright and my son was quite happy to be here although he missed his grandparents.
