Well, for me,  the town centre, because the Queen opened it in 1958 and I was one of the Girl Guides standing to attention in the front row, so actually, the Mecca opened and I definitely remember the first time I went to the Mecca, absolutely, it was like a palace, I can remember going in and there was little mirrors and lights and carpets and my friends and I thought it was just incredible and we did see quite a few of the, at the time, the famous pop groups there.  That was the main focus really, going to the Mecca.  And the pop groups, I mean there was, I’m trying to remember who I saw, Georgie Fame, I think I saw Tom Jones there, Alan Price, The Animals, you know, quite a few of  the big names there and that is where I met my husband, actually.
